  47. Whoa, can't we all just get along? I figure I should add my two cents.
  48. I was a commodore user from my old 5k vic20 to my former Amiga 1200.
  49. In theire times, each was at the top of the class but if you say the
  50. Amiga's dead then commodore killed it. I'm sure it's different in
  51. Europe, but it's about impossible in the US to find any Amiga stuff
  52. except by mail and most of that comes from overseas which means higher
  53. shipping and heaven help you if you need tech support. I stuck with my
  54. Amiga while all my friends with PC's bought cool new games and
  55. software, while I watched store after store discontinue their Amiga
  56. lines. I am a hardcore gamer and the current crop of Amiga games
  57. really suck with a few exceptions. They are still trying to come up
  58. with a decent DOOM clone, while that game is old news to PC's. In
  59. addition many Amiga games did not even allow you to install to
  60. hardrive which meant lots of irritating disk swapping and an eternity
  61. waiting for loading. Most games were still written to run on a box
  62. stock A500 as well. You can argue until the cows come home about which
  63. system is better. The truth is multitasking doesn't do me much good if
  64. I have no programs with which to do it. I will be more than happy to
  65. buy another Amiga if they ever get a foot in the US market but for
  66. right now my pentium suits me just fine. It pretty much came with
  67. everything I (and probably the average home user) need in a computer.
  68. I am not knocking the Amiga by any means. It is a helluva system and
  69. easier to use than IBM clones as well, but I don't have $$$ to chunk
  70. down for a bunch of graphics stuff which is the main advantage to
  71. Amigas( besides, I have no artistic talent). I guess what I want to
  72. say is that the main function of a computer is to run software. You
  73. can have the fastest system and best OS around but if you ain't got
  74. shit to run on it, then it might as well be a paperweight.

  77. P.S. I still think Earl Weaver's Baseball was one of the greastest
  78. computer games ever written. It still beats a lot of baseball games
  79. made 10 years later!
